Moving On Up...to the South Side.

Well.  We've signed our life away and we're all moved in to our wonderful and beautiful new house!!!! We're now "Southsiders" but are still so close to things that have been familiar for the past 6 years that we don't mind.  We got all moved in AND unpacked (even things hung on the wall) with a toddler trying his darndest to help and me being 33 weeks pregnant.  I over did it on the packing a couple weeks ago, spent a very anxious and concern-filled weekend, had a pre-term labor test done (that came back negative....phew!) and learned that I needed to drastically cut back my assistance in the move....or, as the dr threatened because of something that had shown up during my exam, I would be put on bed-rest and then couldn't be of any help to anyone.  Point taken.  :)  So, for me, this was the easiest move on the record books.....and not so much for Dave.

The day we closed on the house, we had rented a truck to move all of the boxes clogging our hallways.  We had professional movers (a local Mayflower group...the 3rd time we've used Mayflower....cannot recommend them HIGHLY enough!!!!) coming a couple days later to move the furniture and the rest.  So, the truck was loaded up and then we had a crew of friends who helped unload it after the closing, when the house was finally ours.  We lucked out!  The week of moving....after horrid heat and humidity...it was in the 80's with low humidity and nice breezes.  A perfect time to move.  Of course....I think this was the gods apologizing for our air conditioner going on the fritz earlier that week as we were making the final push to pack, and I was 33 weeks pregnant, and it was HOT and HUMID outside.

So....without further ado, here is the new house.  We are so in love with it....though we have already started a "project list"....both immediate and future.  And the best part (or one of them) is that our beloved neighbors and friends, "Uncle" Adam and "Aunt" Kate just sold their house and are moving southside too in about a month....not more than 10 minutes from us!  We may not be neighbors but we're still going to be close which we are ecstatic about!  :)  It made moving away from them a little easier.  :)  Though Jeffery still looks out the windows and calls for "Ada and Kay".....constantly!  :)

Kitchen and my amazing and fantastic and I-could-not-live-without island!  :)

Living Room.  We're still working on furniture placement in this room.

Living Room/Reading Room (as Dave is calling it)

Family Room/Kid Room

Family Room

The house has 4 bedrooms and 2.5 baths (one 1/2 bath being downstairs).  This is the nursery.  When my parents come in a month for Stig's birth, they've already agreed to paint this room a different color!  We also have a few projects for my dad to assist with!  Thank God they're handy with a paint brush and tools...and are willing and expecting to be put to work while visiting.  :)

What will be Jeffery's room.

Jeffery's NASCAR corner.  I'm not sure who is more excited about this: Dave or Jeffery!  :)

Guest Bedroom/Office.  Still working on sprucing this room up for guests.

Master Bedroom....which is SO spacious and relaxing compared to our old one.

Master Bedroom looking towards the bathroom (on the left) and the fantastic walk-in closet (on the right).

Dave doing plant inventory in the back.  Both the back and front yards had been professionally landscaped....and even Dave doesn't know what half of the plants are.  He's really quite excited about the challenge!  :)

View of the left side of the yard from the wonderful and big deck!

Dave....and Jeffery....cleaned up the fire pit area yesterday.  Dave is still deciding if he is going to build his own above ground fire pit....or just purchase one at Lowes.  :)  But we are looking forward to crisp, cool fall nights spent outside in front of the fire with maybe a glass of brandy in hand and friends and/or visiting family joining us.

There were already hooks in the trees for a hammock.  Despite what Dave says, we WILL be getting a new yard hammock...and NOT using his camping hammock that he's had since he was 12....

....Jeffery agrees with me and is laughing here, with no sympathy for daddy, as Dave just fell out of the hammock while trying to get in!!!!  We both had a good laugh at daddy's expense.  :)  Yes...a new, bigger hammock is in order!

So, there's the house.  It is only about 400 sq ft bigger than our old house but it feels HUGE to us!  The back yard is fantastic for little boys to run around in and explore to their heart's content.  And Dave and I pinch ourselves every day that we live in such a home.  I think we're going to be very happy here for a long time!  :)
