A Year of Knowing About Jakob

Our little Jakob Becket is now 4 months old.  Time is passing far too quickly.  Before we know it, he very well could be a Choir Director in Training.  :)  And with the new year, we have known about our little Jakob for a year now.  Amazing what a year will do!!!  :)

It was so special for us to celebrate Christmas with both Jeffery and Jakob this year.  We have been blessed beyond measure to have these little boys in our family and our love for them grows exponentially with each passing day.

Jakob is already behind his brother in one thing: by 5 months old, Jeffery had already been on an airplane and out to AZ twice.  Well...Jakob is going to have to be content with just one trip so far to AZ but he had a marvelous time.  He was a champion on the plane and his smiles and laughs lovingly infected his Oma and Papa and Aunt Julie's hearts.
Ready to cheer on ASU and the Sun Devils in their bowl game!
My parents may roll their eyes when they read this but they are Saints in our book.  When we arrived, the day after Christmas, we had had VERY little sleep for the past 2 days on account of Midnight Mass, Jakob's insane nightly feedings, and being up at 3:30am to catch our flight.  Our first night in AZ, Jakob screamed (I kid you not) and cried for hours on end.  It was horrible and gut wrenching.  There was nothing that could be done to pacify and calm him.  Dave and I...especially me...were at our wits end and being beyond exhausted did not help matters.  Well, when he finally did fall asleep in the family room, my parents took Jakob....banished me to my bed...and took shifts sitting up with him...and let me sleep for almost 6 hours.  Seriously.  They are SAINTS!  They finally came and got me around 4am as he had woken up and needed to be fed.  It is AMAZING what a little sleep can do!

While we were in AZ, Jakob had his 4 month birthday.  We couldn't forgo our cupcake tradition so my mom and I found a cupcake place and we had a lovely little celebration complete with singing to him...with beautiful harmonies!  :)  Gotta love my family!  :)

The day before he turned 4 months old, Jakob was enduring some tummy time on the floor with my dad....and rolled over to his back!  We were all amazed.  Later that day, he stunned all of us by rolling from his back to his front....something that had taken Jeffery another month if not more to figure out!  What a way to celebrate his birthday!!!!!!

He is laughing and smiling so much and is such a sweet little boy.  My only gripe is his night routine.  This child demands to be fed every two hours at night....which, as you may imagine, does not allow for much sleep on my part!  I am so exhausted and frustrated.  I know there is a light at the end of the tunnel...but I'm beginning to wonder if I will ever see the end of the tunnel.  My husband, however, knew how to help.  While visiting our friends, the Winfields (Jason was our best man and they are both Jeffery's godparents) in AZ, Dave picked up these lovely baubles for me at their new store.
Turquoise + opal + spiny oyster shell + coral = one very happy Jessica!
They are my "Happy New Year.....don't despair...Jakob will someday (hopefully) sleep more than 3 hours at night again" present!  I was a crying, blubbering mess when Dave gave them to me.

But...with such a face as this...

....maybe sleep is entirely overrated!!!  :)  I love you Jakob Becket!  Happy 4 months!!!!
