We were blessed to have my family visit us this spring.....including my sister. Dave was at a week long music conference in Minnesota (with my parents) and it was my sister's spring break at the school where she teaches, so she came out to visit! Sadly, her husband was unable to join her on the trip but we all had a great time with Aunt Julie. We took her to the Art Museum, to Bottom's Up for pizza (of course!), she got to see Jeffery's first soccer practice of the spring and we all went down to Williamsburg for a day trip. She played "house hippo" and "hallway soccer" with the boys and they adored having her here. Not my news to share but since it has been announced to all and sundry....and on social media....I will include that she will be having a baby early in October (congrats to her and Zach!!!!) so I had a compatriot in the department of not eating a whole lot and feeling tired. :) We had a great time with her and the boys were so sad when we had to drop her off at the airport (they cried the whole way home).
About a month later, my parents came to visit for a week. We had a great time with them, as always, and can't wait to see them again in July. We spent a morning at Pocahontas State Park, visited Maymont Park on what turned out to be a downright frigid day, the boys played a LOT of soccer and baseball with both Oma and Papa in the backyard, they went to a soccer practice and a game of Jeffery's, had lunch at Bottom's Up Pizza :), and just had a grand time. Two highlights were:
1. Jakob got to go to his first Southside Speedway race....with Papa and daddy and Jeffery! It was a polar night and everyone was shivering except for Jakob...our truly nordic boy! :) But they all had a great time at the "Toughest Short Track in the South". :)
2. Oma took the boys shopping to get......light up shoes. You know the kind.....where the kids steps down and the bottom of the shoes light up. A month later, the boys are still very proud of those shoes, frustrated with me that I won't let them wear them to church, and insist upon wearing them everywhere else. :) It was a big deal!
We loved having visitors and the boys loved the extra attention. :) It is such a blessing for the boys to have their extended family be such a part of their lives....even though that extended family lives no where close to VA. They....we....are all very blessed!
