One Year of Jakob Becket

Our little Jakob Becket turned 1 year old last month....and I have been remiss in posting something to celebrate his special milestone.  He has been with us a year and has been a blessing to our family.  Where has the year gone?!

BIRTH DAY - You came after 8 hours of labor and 3 pushes.  Your daddy and godmother/doula were there to witness your birth and everyone cried because you were healthy and finally here!  Big Brother Jeffery was playing at a friend's house until daddy went to pick him up.  And then, they picked up Papa at the airport and everyone came to see you.  Papa was holding you before you were 5 hours old.

One Week Old - Oma had arrived and Papa was still here.  They were such a huge help making sure Jeffery was taken care of while me and your daddy adjusted to life with you as our newborn baby.  You were quiet until you were hungry and then you roared until you were fed.  You loved to snuggle into me....something Jeffery never did....and you were immediately my "bear".

One Month Old - Grandma and Grandpa Pedersen were here for your one month birthday.  Favorite things were: your pacifier, your swing, your bouncy seat, and sleeping.  At this point you were still a good feeder and sleeper.

Two Months Old - Celebrated with mommy and daddy and Jeffery.  Favorite things: cooing, going on walks, smiling, your swing, sleeping on people.  You are so quiet normally that people forget you're in the house.

Three Months Old - celebrated with mommy and daddy and Jeffery.  Favorite new things: bath time, white noise, mommy and daddy, and tracking Jeffery with your eyes.  You are a champion sleeper....during the day...but are pushing me to the brink of my sanity with your nighttime routine.  I call you my "2, 4, 6, 8 baby" as that is how often you have me up at night to feed you.  For your 3 month birthday, you came down with Croup but fortunately, it wasn't a very bad case.

Four Months Old - celebrated in AZ with mommy and daddy and Jeffery and Oma and Papa.  Favorite new things: tummy time, rolling over, laughing.

Five Months Old - celebrated with mommy and daddy and Jeffery.  Favorite things: laughing, smiling, baths, NOT sleeping, Cubbie Monkey, sleeping in your pack and play, being with daddy, and watching Jeffery.

Six Months Old - celebrated with mommy and daddy and Jeffery.  Favorite things: your CRIB!, SLEEPING!!, tummy time, sophie giraffe, your crib mobile, mommy singing to you.

Seven Months Old - celebrated with mommy and daddy and Jeffery.  Favorite things: watching Jeffery play with his cars, Skyping with Oma and Papa, your two bottom teeth, Baby Einstein videos, being in the baby office, and baby yogurt.

Eight Months Old - celebrated with mommy and daddy and Jeffery.  Favorite things: swing, sleeping, playing with Jeffery on the floor, daddy holding you high up in the air, your monkey keys, and playing peek-a-book with Jeffery. You are showing some signs of wanting to crawl.

Nine Months Old - celebrated with mommy and daddy and Jeffery.  You had been terribly sick two weeks prior and all signs of impending crawling came to a halt.  Favorite things: babbling, being sung to, Jeb Bear, Stig Stegosaurus, Cubbie Monkey, being in your baby office, being somber and reserved, weaning from nursing!

Eleven Months Old - celebrated with mommy and daddy and Jeffery.  We somehow managed to miss taking 10 month old pictures of you.  We did the same for Jeffery's 6 month pictures.  Frustrating but oh well!  Favorite things: doing your army crawl all over the house, being with friends and family, eating pureed foods, sitting up on your own, playing in the pool, rough-housing with daddy and Jeffery, and doing your pterodactyl laugh.

Twelve Months Old - celebrated with mommy and daddy and Jeffery and Auntie Julie P. Favorite things: crawling on all 4s, harassing Jeffery, being read to, walking with mommy and daddy helping, being sung to, "Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood", his family!

Happy (belated) birthday to my wonderful bear....my Jakob Becket.  You have filled our lives with such joy and love and blessings and we all love you so very much.
