Jeffery Update

It has been a while since there have been any pictures or posts about Jeffery.  And he is changing, changing, changing so I need to rectify this.

But first....Happy Belated Birthday to Dave!!!!!!  We started his birthday celebration a few days early (had to because of our insane weeknight schedule) and I surprised him with dinner at a new favorite place -- the Boathouse.  It sits on a wharf of the James River and overlooks the James and has a beautiful view of the Richmond Skyline.  Another surprise was that our friends and neighbors, Adam and Kate, met us at the restaurant to join in the celebration!  :)  We had SO much fun (thanks to Kate...another one...for babysitting!!) and ended the night by having our fill of dessert with Adam and Kate at SweetFrog.  Dave's actual birthday was a lovely day during which he got a new spinning rod (to go with the present my parents have sent him...teeheehee).  He was sung to by me, my parents (via Skype) and the singers in the James River Singers....it was even in parts for the latter two renditions of "Happy Birthday".  It was a fantastic and happy day!

Now, on to Jeffery.  Like I said....he is changing....A LOT!!!!!  He LOVES to laugh and is a little comedian.
Giggle time
He is walking....everywhere!!!!!  He still can't stand up on his own and take off.  Instead, he pulls himself up using the couch or my leg or the wall and then...off he goes!  It is too funny to be sitting in the office and have him round the corner and toddle towards me.

He has a few words in his vocabulary.  Mama, Dada, Woa, Cat,....No.  Yep, he knows the word "no".  And....he LOVES to shake his head and laughs when you try to nod your head and show him "yes".  I think a reading of "Randolph, the Bear Who Said No" is going to be in order....if only we had the book.  :)

He is one of the sweetest little boys.  He will NOT hug you, he won't accept hugs, he bats things away with a royal wave of the hand (Little Lord Jeffery, indeed), you don't know if what looks like a baby kiss is going to turn into him biting you.  But still....he is terribly sweet and good natured.

Along the lines of him speaking....he talks constantly!  He doesn't stop.  A lot of my friends describe their child's babbling as sounding like Chinese.  HA!  Being that our little Jeffery has a definite Viking spirit...I am inclined to believe that he is really speaking Old Norse.  :)  Kind of like the Swedish Chef.  :)

One of his new favorite places is the sand box at the Ginter Botanical Gardens.  We have a membership and he loves the dinosaurs, the shovels, and has even learned what fun it is to throw sand.

He has a few new best friends.  Bobo, the monkey, has long been a favorite and he is starting to sleep with him through the night.  Mrs. Owl (the Great Horned Owl my mom brought him in April) is another favorite.  Tommy, the Triceratops (that Uncle Eric gave him for his birthday), is a constant play buddy.  But his new best friend...the one he drags around everywhere (by the ear no less) and gives hugs to (while he won't hug us) is Fritz the Fox.  He ADORES Fritz!!!
Jeffery and Fritz the Fox...up to no good  :)
He is changing almost every day and Dave and I are in amazement.  We have a busy fall ahead of us full of camping trips with Adam and Kate, trips to Arizona for me and Jeffery, family trips to Carter Mountain Orchards, Halloween (I'm thinking a viking costume is in order), etc.  AND....he's starting Music Classes in a couple weeks which is something we are all VERY excited about!  Yep!  It is shaping up to be a fantastic fall!  :)
