Prague 2 of 2

Continuing with his pictures of Prague.....

The Charles Bridge. This is one of the oldest surviving bridges in all of Europe. Statues of saints and other venerated figures line the bridge.

Looking towards the Old Town Square. The tower to the left is a part of the City Hall and houses the Astronomical Clock.

Prost and Nazdravi! Students and Teachers come together for food and drink. Yes -- that glowing amber tube in the front is a beer jug. Notice the tap at the bottom. These were delivered to the tables -- think of pitchers of beer here in the US .... though I think this is a much more classy way to serve beer!!!!

This is the choir loft in St. Vitus Cathedral where the choirs from the University of Richmond sang. They participated in the Mass on Sunday and then had a performance at the church.

Dr. Jeff Riehl leading Schola through their morning warm-up in St. Vitus Cathedral. The Cathedral is so large that they do not heat the building. It was a brisk 41 degrees in the loft so while everyone was either in their tux or choral outfit, they wore their winter jackets and gloves and the such on top of everything.

This is the view from the choir loft. From where they were positioned, they could not see the altar at all. The organist has a video feed into the loft so they can see what is going on during Mass.

Beautiful St. Nicholas Square.

Ahhh -- this is my favorite church in all of Prague (don't forget that I was here in 2006). It is the Church of Our Lady before Tyn. I think I am drawn to this church because of how "scary" it looks. It looks like it belongs to Maleficent out of Sleeping Beauty or something.

Bacchanalia and revelry abound at the famous (now infamous with the UofR crowd) U Fleku. This brewery was founded in 1499 -- making it the oldest brewery in Prague. After visiting this pub on his own, Dave brought back a group of a dozen students/faculty on their last night in Prague. Hilarity ensued: dancing (on the floor and on tables), copious amounts of Becherovka followed by liters of beers consumed, singing with the polka band, etc. All had a grand time at U Fleku!!

Goodbye to Prague. On to Slovakia!
