Happy Born Again Birthday!!!!

Happy 3rd Christian Birthday to our Jakob Becket -- Becket being for St. Thomas Becket.  I can't believe it has been 3 years since he was Baptized.  I once heard a homily from a deacon at a local church where he said that his family celebrates the child's baptismal day in a bigger way than their actual birth day....because it is their baptismal day that they are born again into the life of Christ.  I loved that thought and know many families who believe the same.  With that in mind, we have taken to celebrating the boys' baptismal days.....AND.....the feast days of their baptismal Saints.  As a result, we get to celebrate many many many times in this house.  And rightly so.  :)  Because of Dave's schedule today, we have to put off celebrating until tomorrow....but we will celebrate!!!

Here are a few pictures from that beautiful and wonderful day.  At our parish, it is the Godparents who stand in for the parents during the ceremony of baptism.  Mark and Lauren, Jakob's godparents, love their godson almost (almost) as much as their own children.  (On a special note, Lauren also acted as my doula during Jakob's birth.)  Jakob was blessed to wear his great-grandpa's baptismal gown that is over 105 years old....and which his brother, mother, aunt, Oma and all of her siblings wore as well.  And Father Marsolle (WE MISS YOU!!!!) performed the rite beautifully.  What a special day!
