Come Visit Us!

Are you, our friends and family, starting to make your vacation plans for 2016?  I know we are!  Sadly, once again, our plans will not involve a trip to Colorado (sigh....will I ever see my beloved valley and Crystal River again?!) nor will our plans find us going any further afield than West Virginia.

(side note: Dave's upcoming trip to Finland, Estonia, Lithuania, and Latvia...yes, you just read all of that correctly...does not, as I am told, count as a vacation as he will be with his Women's Choir from UR and responsible for his students and the concerts they will be performing.  Ha!  The poor thing will be "working" while he see the Baltic countries....my heart bleeds for him.  :) )

Anyway, if you are planning your 2016 vacation plans....I HIGHLY suggest you follow the advice of National Geographic Traveler which recently picked their top 6 places in the world to visit for their food/beverage scene...and RICHMOND CAME IN AT #1!!!!!!!  The other 5 cities include: 1) Marrakech, Morocco, 2) Lima, Peru, 3) Sydney, Australia, 4) New Orleans, Louisiana, and 5) Tokyo, Japan.  Read the first article here

I am constantly amazed at the unbelievable "eats and drinks" we have in this small city of ours!  With my parents or just on our own, we have frequently patronized establishments like "Comfort", "The Roosevelt", "27 Bistro", "Dutch and Co.", "The Boathouse", the Can-Can, the Iron Horse (which technically is in Ashland but still...), the former "White Dog", etc.  And we realize that we haven't even begun to hit even half of the amazing eateries around Richmond.  (Alas, bank accounts and children limit our adult evenings out.  :)  ).

Of course, with children in tow, there is the legendary and famous "Buzz & Ned's BBQ"....and the ever popular with the train/pizza loving crowd..."Bottom's Up Pizza".  There are so many awesome places to eat...it is kind of overwhelming but in the best way possible.

So, my point is that if you love to eat good food and want to experience a specific city's take on cuisine, you should take the advice of the people who scoured the globe....and come visit us in Richmond!!!!  We have a very comfy hide-a-bed (I'm told it actually is comfy)...and we are working on turning our office back into a guest bedroom.  We have boys that will talk your ears off about trains and NASCAR and baseball and music.  We have a bar that is very well stocked (most of the time) and the selection of craft beer in this city (as the article highlights) is unbelievable!  (One of our best friends co-owns Triple Crossing Brewery.)

So....come visit us in Richmond.  With the company, the history, the scenery, and the food/beverage scene....I don't think you'll regret it!!!!  :)
