Friday Family Fun Days

Our schedule is always rather chaotic .....and to some observers....random.  We know that there is a routine and a general sense of order to things but for the most part....it is a pretty willy-nilly schedule.  But now that we are in the fall semester, things are really picking up.  From Dave acquiring 2 private voice students at UR, to him adding a children's choir at church....to Jeffery continuing his swim lessons to me homeschooling him for Pre-Kindergarten instead of sending him off to a preschool.....to JRS starting up again and Jakob being a 2 year old.....things are busy.

Which is why I love the two ideas Dave had about a month ago.  The first: make Sunday Dinner a special thing.  So, we do.  We plan a big meal that takes more time than meals do the rest of the week, and make it a big deal.  Chicken Dinner, homemade pulled pork, balsamic glazed steak,......the meals have been amazing...and really special.  The second involves our Fridays.  Dave tries to have his Fridays be free and has decided that Friday should be a Family Fun Day.  :)  Meaning, we go out and do something different every Friday as a family.  One Friday, we spent the morning at the Art Museum and then had lunch there.  Another Friday was spent at BassPro looking at the animals (it was a rainy and nasty day outside).

On one Family Fun Day, we visited a park that was new to us and had a blast!  The park was huge and had lots of trails for walking, a great playground for the kids, and a lake where you could see turtles and koi fish and the such.  It was beautiful....and the weather that day was gorgeous!  We had SO much fun!

A couple weeks ago, the Friday Family Fun Day event was to visit Pocahontas State Park.  We love this state park and make it a habit of visiting fairly often.  It has water to look at, boats to tempt you to get out on the water, a playground, fantastic trails to hike on, and a great Nature Center!  We're really looking forward to returning once the leaves have started to change.  This is a gorgeous place to be in the fall!

I think that everyone is a fan of Friday Family Fun Day so far.  :)
