October Adventures

We have quickly adapted to being a family of four.  Like I said in the previous post, that is just weird to even type.  But here we are -- a family of four and loving it!  Aside from some dark circles under my eyes, things are going great!  And when we haven't been busy with company visiting us, we have been busy with our own adventures.  Like:

Jakob's first time in the Tummy Tub.  (so glad we get to use it again!  Some of the best $40 I've ever spent!)

Jeffery's new hat and mittens...which he insists on wearing inside the house at all times now.  He makes me laugh!  :)

Our first attempt at Jakob having a nap in the crib.  It didn't go over so well!

Some of the first bath photos with Jakob.

Having some quiet time with Jeffery's monkey, BoBo.

Our trip to Bear Creek Lake State Park to the south west of Richmond.  We went two days after my sister, Julie, left to check out the area and see what the fuss is about.  We've had several friends stay in the rentable cabins there and just rave about the area.  We thought it was beautiful and had a wonderful day trip there -- but we think we prefer the "mountains"/hills and surrounding areas of Douthat State Park where we went in June.

Here is Jeffery scaring away the geese -- who didn't like him and would honk at him very loudly and make Jeffery laugh and laugh.

He and daddy walked the beach area around the lake.

Some fall colors are starting to appear.

Jakob loved all the sounds.

The two brothers!

Back at home, Dave and I have been enjoying afternoons (during Jeffery's nap time) out on the deck.

The day after our outing to Bear Creek Lake, we once again loaded up the car and drove to Charlottesville to attend the Carter Mountain Orchard Apple Festival.  After not going last year, it was nice to back...and to eat their incredible Apple Cider Donuts.  (We raised one to you, Mom!  Hope you're not too jealous!  The Pink Lady's weren't ripe yet so you shouldn't be too envious!!!  :) )  We had a wonderful time, as we always do, on top of the mountain and Jeffery adored all the activities!

Apple Cider Donuts are a serious thing!  :)

Charlottesville is in the background.  Me and Jakob bear enjoying the beautiful day!

Jeffery throwing discarded apples over the fence....or at least trying to.

Jeffery and some random dog that he instantly befriended!  :)

Happy Times at the Apple Orchards

Jeffery blends in pretty well, don't you think?!  ;)

Look closely at the next two pictures.  :)  Notice anything strange?!  Yep!  Basically the same picture but 2 years apart!  The first is me and Jeffery....the second is me and Jakob!  Traditions!!!

Jeffery on the John Deere.  He LOVED that thing!

And once again, back at home....we are humming right along.  Jakob is getting to be bigger by the day (or so it seems).

And Jeffery continues to be a typical 2 year old whose emotions change with the wind.

And fall is finally starting to show her beautiful colors!  No kidding - this is the view outside our living room window.  I think it looks rather like a watercolor or oil painting!  Maybe I could Monet a run for his money!

As October winds down (sadly as it is my favorite month), we are excited to see what new and exciting adventures the rest of the year will bring us.  One thing is for sure: this family of four will welcome the whatever adventure awaits us!
