Catching Up

The final catch up post.  (It's taken long enough.....good grief)

December

The family had a busy December (whose December isn't busy?!).  We......

*Attended Candlelight Lessons and Carols at the University of Richmond and got to see Dave direct his Women's Choir.  It is such a beautiful service and amazing tradition.  The boys talk about it all year long.

* Had our first snowfall.  The boys loved playing soccer out in the snow, pretending they were snow plows, and seeing John be mesmerized by the falling snow.

* Enjoyed sunshine and........

.....family time.

January

We started January in Arizona with my family (see previous post).  Thankfully, we missed the truly polar temperatures that Richmond experienced.  The James River had actual ice flows.  Not something we see every year!!  Upon our return, Dave took the boys on a day trip to the little town of Crew where they went to the see N&W Museum.  The boys were in hog heaven.

February and March

We started a new tradition for our family by celebrating Fat Tuesday with a King Cake (that was divine) and pancakes for dinner.

We received more snow....which we loved!!!!!.....and

.....took a day trip to Farmville and hiked the High Bridge trail.

April

Jakob started U4 Soccer Clinics with FC Richmond in April.  Jeffery had started his U7 boys team with FC Richmond in March.  And little John suffered weekly practices and games......and did a good job of being the baby mascot!

Easter was epic in this house!!!!!  We celebrated by enjoying a true Smorgasbord for lunch and then feasted on a Scandinavian meal for dinner (Braised carrots, walnut green beans, Danish meatballs in a curry cream sauce, and Reyka Vodka).  The boys still talk about the feast!!!!

My parents visited for a week, during which: they attended a JRS rehearsal.....

.....dad took the older boys to the X-Finity NASCAR race.....

.....they both cheered on both boys during their soccer matches.....

....dad constructed an AMAZING interstate for the boys, complete with roundabouts.....

....and we enjoyed a beautiful day in Maymont.

And now, we look forward to the summer with excitement as we have exciting plans and lots of time to enjoy our family.  I hate summer.....but one of the only perks of summer is the increased time we have to spend together.  And this summer promises to be fantastic (fingers crossed)!!!!!!!  :)
